I had hoped that I would be able to make it back from Colombia without bringing back a nasty bug; in 2003, on our first visit, I came home with a dreadful case of giardia. I was fine yesterday in the first few hours after arriving home, but last night became violently ill. No hospital trip, just the usual unpleasantnesses. It's only now, at just before 4:00PM, that I'm up and showered and feeling somewhat civilized.
To my students in my Wednesday classes, I apologize for another missed day. And to my readers, I promise to be posting again relatively soon.
Yogurt repopulates the gut. Has to be Dannon or other brand specifically saying "live cultures" on the label.
Good old Giardia, worldwide tormentor. It's pretty common among US campers who don't charcoal-filter stream water they drink.

I sympathize, and how. I spent two days laid up with a similar malady in south China last week. Ugh. I hope you feel better soon.

I was very ill when I was in Bogota. It's the water, I think? Even if you don't drink tap water it's the produce, anything that's washed in it has the potential little critters (amoebas)It was not fun. Hope you feel better now! :)
